Vigil Neuroscience is the world's first microglia-focused therapeutics company. We are utilizing the tools of modern neuroscience drug development across multiple therapeutic modalities to rapidly deliver precision-based therapies to improve the lives of patients and their families.

Vigil is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Associate Scientist to join our Discovery Biology team. The successful candidate will have experience in cell biology, molecular biology and/or biochemistry, and will be responsible for the execution of assays for novel therapeutics targeting neuroinflammation, with a primary focus on microglia. The ideal candidate is highly organized, independent, technically creative, and excited to excel in a lab-focused, scientific role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execution of in vitro biochemical, signaling, and functional assays using human iPSC-derived microglia and human cell lines across multiple projects.
  • Culture and maintenance of cell lines and human iPSC-derived microglia to support innovative drug discovery programs.
  • Run biochemical and imaging-based assays.
  • Contribute to cross-functional internal project teams by presenting data and ideas to key stakeholders.
  • Keeping up-to-date and well-organized records of experiments in an electronic notebook.

Candidate profile:

  • Experience in culture of mammalian cells. Previous experience with human iPSC-derived microglia or other myeloid cells is a plus.
  • Experience in optimization and execution of cell-based assays, as well as functional immune cell assays (AlphaLISA, HTRF, flow cytometry).
  • Familiarity with western blotting, ELISA, qPCR, MSD.
  • Experience with imaging-based readouts is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • To be considered for this role, you must have a BS or MS in Biology or a related field, with typically 5+ (BS), 3+ (MS) years of relevant experience, either in industry or academia with superb technical training.

Reporting to the Head of FP&A, the Director of FP&A will serve as a business partner to our Clinical team, as well as support month-end close activities, internal management reporting, and play a key role in enhancing planning & reporting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play an integral role as business partner to the Clinical team
  • Lead monthly management reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting initiatives.
  • Support Program business cases with financial and strategic analysis.
  • Identify and communicate key risks and opportunities to relevant functional and program stakeholders.
  • Foster cross-functional transparency and efficiency, specifically for clinical programs.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize, streamline, and prioritize improvements, remove roadblocks, and increase the reliability and efficiency of planning and reporting.

Candidate profile:

Background

  • BA/BS in accounting or finance; MBA is a plus.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and/or financial planning and analysis in
  • pharmaceutical, biotechnology, investment banking, consulting.
  • 3+ years’ experience supporting Clinical team, preferably in a high-growth biotechnology organization.

Technical

  • Experience with ERP systems and associated planning and reporting tools preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite and/or Prendio a plus.
  • Highly proficient in Excel based modeling.
  • Strong Accounting and Financial Planning background & knowledge.

We seek an energetic, passionate, and seasoned patient advocate to join our rapidly growing company committed to patients and their families. The Associate Director, Patient Advocacy will support development and implementation of the patient advocacy strategy across Vigil’s programs. Working closely with and reporting to the VP, Patient Advocacy, this candidate will be responsible for supporting internal operations and project management as well as supporting/leading proactive external engagement with key patient advocacy groups in areas of high unmet need within the patient community. The candidate will help to build the function internally while developing and/or strengthening relationships with global, external stakeholders in rare and particularly in common neurodegenerative diseases with a focus on adult early onset populations. The candidate will be an integral member of cross functional teams and a key contributor to ensure Vigil is the partner of choice with the community through active external engagement and relationship development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute on and further develop the patient advocacy strategy.
  • Support and further develop insight generation to ensure patient and caregiver voice are consistently integrated.
  • Monitor patients@vigilneuro.com and trials@vigilneuro.com and support appropriate and compliant responses.
  • Assist in managing legal/medical and regulatory review process.
  • Assist in managing a budget including the submission, and tracking of sponsorship & membership requests through internal review, contracting, and payment.

Candidate profile:

  • 7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or relevant experience in non-profit advocacy organization; a mix of both is a real plus.
  • Experience in neurodegeneration required with adult-onset neurodegeneration a plus.
  • Experience in common neurodegenerative diseases required with rare disease a plus.
  • Experience in clinical trial and drug development a plus.
  • Excellent project management, communication (oral and writing) and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to manage and foster complex, cross functional internal and external relationships as well navigate ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to travel 40% (sometimes globally) on a regular basis, as required.
  • Knowledge of current regulatory requirements and guidelines governing patient advocacy as it relates to clinical research and drug development process.
