Tenaya has an immediate need for a Research Associate I to Senior Research Associate I to support the Pharmacology team. Responsibilities:

• Perform routine hands-on work for in vivo experiments and data analysis of efficacy, PK/PD, biodistribution, and safety studies, driving comprehensive and highly integrated profiling of Tenaya drug candidates.
• Participate in scheduling, execution, documentation and analysis of data generated from in vivo animal studies with supervision. Generate study reports for completed in vivo studies with supervision.
• Execute ex vivo experiment and analyses to support in vivo study conclusions or as independent studies.
• Participate in cross-functional collaborations, interdisciplinary project team activities; establish and maintain excellent working relationships with collaborative partners throughout the company and CROs
• Maintaining detailed records of experimental protocols and data in accordance with company policy.
• Present findings in both small and large group company meetings.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in pharmacology, biology, physiology, bioengineering or related discipline, prefer to have > 1 year of laboratory experience in industry or academic lab.
• Ability and willingness to work with small rodent animals are an absolute requirement, particularly the ability to perform necropsy to collect tissues for ex vivo experiments and tissue sectioning.
• Any experience with in vivo cardiovascular techniques, such as rodent handling, animal surgery, ECG recording, tail cuff blood pressure measurement, tail vein or eye bleeding, GTT, dosing (IV, IP, PO, SC) is a plus. Echocardiography is a particularly valued skillset.
• Knowledge in standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (i.e., RNA, DNA, protein extraction, western blotting, qPCR, IHC, etc.…).
• Experience with gene therapy or small molecules is not a requirement but is considered a positive.
• Managing multiple tasks efficiently, communicating clearly and effectively, and building open and collaborative relationships are essential.
• A positive attitude and strong attention to detail are required.

Tenaya has an immediate need for a Contract Lab Management Specialist.

• 2 to 3 years of lab management experience including inventory and equipment management.
• Good with technical skills including the use of excel, word, etc.
• Effective communication skills.
• 2 to 3 of lab and safety exposure -either being in the lab as RA or lab management.
• Exposure on handling vendors for equipment and lab supplies.

Tenaya has an immediate need for a Head of Toxicology.  We are seeking a creative scientist and leader with an interest in discovery and development of novel therapies to join our growing team and lead our pre-clinical drug discovery efforts. This is a unique opportunity to join a company at an early stage to lead a group to do cutting edge basic and clinical science.

• Oversee IND-enabling safety and biodistribution studies for novel therapeutics for heart disease.
• Contribute to the in vivo pharmacology aspect of multiple projects within discovery and provide pharmacology expertise to successfully bring programs to IND submission.
• Lead the toxicology and vivarium teams.
• Develop and maintain strong collaborations with a fully integrated multidisciplinary team comprised of internal and external pre-clinical, translational, and clinical researchers to facilitate the advancement of new therapies.
• Contribute to the company's scientific strategy by working with the senior leadership team to evaluate and implement novel and emerging technologies to advance drug discovery efforts.
• Lead (directly & indirectly through projects), develop and retain a high-performance team and provide development opportunities and mentoring to the team.

Requirements

• Ph.D. degree in Biology or related discipline with significant experience in in vivo biology, disease models, pathology, toxicology, and drug development with 10 + years of work experience.
• Experience in advancing molecules to clinical development, authoring regulatory documents and interacting with regulatory agencies.
• Knowledge and expertise in the fields of cardiac biology and gene therapy would be a plus.
• Evidence of scientific productivity and critical thinking skills with application to research and early-stage drug development
• A positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Strong communication and leadership skills and the proven ability to build open and collaborative relationships with other scientists.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic with high-level motivation
• Experience in safety pharmacology is a plus.

As an expert in analytical development of gene therapy biologics, the Associate Director/Director, Analytical Development directs the efforts of a team of scientists and RAs in the development of analytical methods to determine the purity, potency, strength and identity of drug substance, drug product and process intermediates. The scope of this position currently focuses on R&D and early clinical development, but later it will extend to commercialization and life cycle management.

• Identifies, strategizes, prioritizes and manages analytical development activities to resolve a variety of complex problems.
• Communicates and consults with key personnel in QC, executive management, Pharm/Tox, Research, Regulatory and Clinical. Keeps peers and management informed about analytical issues and their impact on project timelines.
• Manages Analytical Development (AD) group efforts, including assay development, method qualification and transfer to QC, and assay support of Process Development and other groups as needed. Mentors Scientists and Research Associates.
• Provides scientific and operational advice to AD personnel to facilitate their assay development activities.
• Primary contact representing AD to other departments, including Process Development, Regulatory, Manufacturing, QC, QA, Pharm/Tox, Research and senior management.
• Authors and reviews relevant analytical sections in IND/IMPD/BLA/MAA (analytical procedures, justification of specifications, impurities, characterization etc.)
• Ensure a continued information flow among other departments and external collaborators/partners
• Represents Tenaya Therapeutics’ AD group at regulatory authority meetings and teleconferences for analytical questions
• Maintains an awareness of new technology that could benefit the AD group, and brings in new technology as appropriate.
• Management responsibilities include oversight of day-to-day activities; budgeting; performance reviews; and mentoring/career development.
• Acts as team or project representative on external collaborations and with contract laboratories.
• Presents and discusses issues, solutions and results at department and project team meetings
• Presents at external meetings or publishes in peer-reviewed journals

Requirements

• PhD, MS or BS in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline
• Requires a minimum of 3 years experience as an analytical development scientist or manager in biologics development
• Highly prefer Analytical Development or Quality Control experience with Adeno-associated virus (AAV) and/or Lentiviral drug development. Cell therapy experience would be equally relevant.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, writing, and managerial skills
