We are looking for a talented scientist with experience with analytical assays and preclinical studies to enhance our drug development capabilities. This opportunity will help you to develop deep expertise, knowledge, and connections in translational mRNA biomedicine, biotechnology, aging, mRNA therapeutics, and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs).
Role & Responsibilities:
- Research assays, methods, equipment, and current best practices in biological research and preclinical drug development
- Determine vendor qualification and capabilities; ensure vendors provide appropriate validation of methods, data quality, and sample quality
- Obtain and compare quotes. Present vendor options and propose rationale for vendor selection
- Communicate with the team with regards to sample preparation and handling
- Engage with contract research organizations (CROs) to understand capabilities for drug stability studies, bioanalytical assay development and validation, and preclinical toxicology / IND-enabling studies, including PK, safety, and toxicology
- Engage contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to understand capabilities for analytical assay development, validation, and performance, mRNA GMP manufacturing and LNP GMP manufacturing
- Communicate company needs during discussions with vendors, CROs, and CMOs
- Organize, analyze, summarize, and report data from CROs and CMOs
- Serve as subject matter expert to educate others on rationale for analytical and bioanalytical strategies, assay selection, and experimental design
Core Competencies
- Expertise in molecular biology, cellular biology, and pharmacology assays, including analyzing nucleic acids, RNA, lipids, and/or lipid nanoparticles, analyzing biological samples
- Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team as well as independently

- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Sound problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Excellent scientific and social judgment

- Able to prepare and effectively share scientific presentations
Education & Experience
- BS, MS, or PhD in bioscience/biomedicine/bioengineering or related field
- 3+ years experience in a research, biotech, pharma, CRO, and/or CMO setting
- Experience or familiarity with several of: ELISA, HPLC/MS, nucleic acid analysis, tissue culture, and in vivo experimental design and analysis
- Experience with animal efficacy and/or safety studies
- Experience in selecting and managing vendors or contractors
- Experience with summarizing and reporting scientific data, written and orally
Hours: Part-time. Requires availability Monday to Friday. There is some flexibility with respect to hours.
Job type: Can be 100% remote, hybrid, or 100% on-site at our laboratory in Mountain View, California.
