Job Description

The Scientist will be responsible for leading efforts in cell development for the kidney team. The Scientist will additionally be responsible for performing and leading the following: planning and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and documenting results that enable teams to make decisions and progress the programs towards the clinic. The Scientist will use knowledge and experience to draw conclusions, communicate with management, and advance technical decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design studies to characterize primary kidney cells by flow cytometry or immunofluorescence
  • Design media studies to promote maintenance or maturation of primary kidney cells
  • Coordinate efforts to establish function of recellularized kidneys
  • Plan and coordinate projects and experiments to meet milestone timelines
  • Lead efforts to understand, explore, and incorporate new technologies to advance programs
  • Plan, execute, document, and report experimental work
  • Invents and innovates materials, technologies, designs, methods, and processes
  • Mentors, advises, and trains junior staff
  • Coordinates, authors, and reviews written and oral reports and presentations, patent and regulatory filings, and decision and recommendation documents for senior management
Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Biology, Tissue Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry or related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with adherent mammalian cell lines
  • Demonstrated expertise in flow cytometry
  • Experience managing Idea and/or Experiment phase of complex R&D projects
  • Skill adapting and synthesizing disparate sources of information to solve technical problems
  • Extensive experience with research, IP, and the development process
  • Strong ability to communicate within and across disciplines and organizational structures
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm for a collaborative work culture and desire to make a positive impact

Job Description

Miromatrix, Inc. is a biotechnology and regenerative medicine pioneer with the mission to eliminate the organ transplant waiting list by providing bioengineered transplantable organs to all patients suffering from organ failure. Our culture is founded on the pillars of innovation, dedication, and integrity. We are currently developing a transplantable liver and kidney as our lead products, with plans to expand into other organs as part of the product pipeline.

Position Description:

This position is responsible for maintaining equipment and utility systems throughout their lifecycle, including documentation of activities. The position reports to Quality Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate internal and external service activities to ensure equipment and utilities are in good working order
  • Execute/coordinate routine sanitization of DI water systems
  • Execute/coordinate equipment and utility set-up, including initial qualification
  • Execute/coordinate recommended decommissioning of equipment and utilities
  • Execute/coordinate routine calibration events
  • Execute/coordinate routine preventative maintenance events
  • Utilize electronic system (BMRAM) to identify, track and trend activities and events
  • Assist with review of internal and external service records
  • Assist with out of specification investigations and nonconformances
  • Maintain recommended inventory levels of parts, to reduce potential down-time
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and utilities
  • Assist other equipment owners with maintenance events, where needed
  • Assist with SOP and work instruction writing/revision
  • Support area metrics
  • Participate in relevant tech transfer and validation activities
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a regulated industry (e.g., biologic, pharmaceutical, medical device)
  • Ability to read drawings/schematics
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software
  • Experience with DI water systems, compressed gas systems, and Blue Mountain RAM preferred
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to follow procedures as written with adequate documentation
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and collaborate cross-functionally
