Job Description
GenSight Biologics is an innovative clinical-stage gene therapy company dedicated to the discovery, development and commercialization of novel therapies for patients with severe neurodegenerative diseases of the retina and central nervous system. One of these therapies in development, GS030, is a combination of a gene therapy and a medical device for patients suffering from loss of sight due to a disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa. Both the therapy and the Medical Device (MD) are at the initial stages of clinical trials.
As part of the development of our optogenetic therapy GS030, combining a gene therapy and a medical device stimulating transduced retinal cells, we are looking for our Embedded Medical Software Developer (F/M).
Within the Device department of the company, under the responsibility of the Software Development Leader, you handle the low-level software development of our innovative product.
This position gives the opportunity to:
- Develop, document and test embedded software for Gensight Medical Device throughout its life cycle.
- Assist the Software Development Leader in guaranteeing compliance of device software development with IEC 62304
- Contribute to the electronic development through testing and validating electronic choices, parts, and subsystems by developing firmware, programs, and testing environments
- Play a leading role in the creation of intellectual property through innovative ideas in the product development.
Required profile
Essentials
- Academic degree in Engineering or Computer Science (Master 2, engineering degree, PhD)
- Previous experience in embedded software development
- Good knowledge of C, C++, and Python
- Good knowledge of algorithms and data structures
- Good knowledge of Linux based systems
- Basic knowledge of microcontroller architectures and communication protocols (SPI, I2C, PCIe, MIPI...)
Plus
- Experience in FPGA programming
- Knowledge of Device Tree, Bootloader and Linux Kernel development
- Knowledge of regulated environments (medical, space, avionics, automobile, defense)
- Experience on mixed FPGA/micro-controller SoCs (e.g. Zedboard) is a strong plus

- Rigor and skills in setting up technical test plans to meet normative or regulatory constraints
- Strength of proposal and rigor, allowing to solve complex problems in a pragmatic and innovative way while respecting the specifications in terms of time and performance
- Excellent communication skills in English and French (oral and written).
- Proactivity, independency, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
